Good morning readers!
A question I often get asked is “How does your daily life vary from a normal person? What makes it magickal?”
So I thought I would do my best to do a walkthrough of the way my life tends to go on a daily basis, for the most part. I hope this article helps my readers to pick up on at least one minor thing that can be added into their daily lives to help make their experience and journey through this plane a more enjoyable one.
Lets start with today for example. I am sitting at my kitchen table in my house coat with my laptop, and my coffee, I have just spent an hour cleaning the house and getting my kids ready for their day. Sounds pretty NORMAL right? Well it should! Modern magickians are hardly the wizards and witches of fantasy novels and hollywood movies. We are normal people who have made mindfulness, meditation, energy work, and self care a part of our lives. This break down of my day will seem incredibly mundane to some, however we can’t all be doing high magick rituals and working with angels and demons ALL the time! I have found it is the little things, added into your day that can make all the difference in your experience with life and as an added bonus they will help to improve your performance when you DO decide to take the time to do a large working.
Here is my mindfulness and meditation schedule that I typically follow, accompanied by the visualizations and workings for each:
Alarm goes off at 6am –
At this time I like to take a minute to go over the dreams that I have had the night before and keep them in a journal, I have found that journaling dreams is an effective way to not only remember them, but for some reason it seems to help me with dream recall the more I practice this simple technique. I have also found that if I do not do this right away, I tend to forget more and more details the longer I take to write them down, so I save my morning bathroom trip until after I have journaled my dreams.
The morning movement of energy! –
This really isn’t as amazing as it sounds but it IS something that I do incorporate into my day, since we all have to do this at least once a day. During my morning business, I always felt like it was a waste of time, so I decided to turn it into a mediation. While doing your morning movement, or evening, or whenever YOU go you can use this technique to help relieve stress, tension, and negativity from your day. First step is to get on the pot! Then as you are working up your movement visualize all the stress of your life forming into your poop, visualize all negativity that has attached itself to you forming into your poop, visualize all your negative emotions such as worry, fear, sadness, etc forming into your poop, I personally see this happen as a black sludgy film moving from all around my body into my poop and concentrating as the mass that is about to leave my ass! If you have anxiety, depression, etc you can also move these feelings into your poop. Did your boss make you feel worthless yesterday? put that in your poop! Did a friend stab you in the back? Put the betrayal into the poop! You should get the idea at this point. Do this until you can visualize all the dark black sludgy things attached to you move into your movement, and when you are ready, release and flush it away to be taken away from you and broken down. This is an oddly effective technique albeit a little unorthodox.
The great awakening of the cold shower –
I like to start my day with a cold shower, this is a technique I learned from native shamans and shangri la monks. The first few times you do this it is okay to start warm and slowly acclimatize your body to the cold by turning down the temperature during the shower, but your goal should be to be able to turn the water on ice cold and hop in immediately. The ice cold water forces your mind to focus on singular things, it does not allow for the noise of the outside world and your personal thoughts to interfere with you whatsoever in these moments. You no longer feel rage, anger, sadness, or any other negative emotions in the moments you are submerged in ICE COLD water. The cold water also makes you more alert and it is easier to move forward with a positive frame of mind for the rest of the day. This allows you to focus on a meditation much easier than normal. While I take this icy dip in the morning I also do a meditation to bring positive energy into my body and my life. I visualize the streams of water coming out of the shower as a rainbow of colours washing and clearing my body of all negativity, again the visualization of black sludge washing off is my go to. Once you have worked from top to bottom of your body and feel that the sludge is removed, visualize the rainbow streams filling your body and aura with positive intentions and energies. This is a great way to start your day on a positive note.
Morning affirmations –
I like to include a little bit of neuro linguistic programming into my day via the use of affirmations. The key thing to remember with affirmations is to focus on what you want, not what you want to get rid of. For example if you want to make more money, you don’t want to say “I am no longer struggling for money.” Your brain will only hear “Struggling for money” and you will continue to have issues. The positive side of this is “I make enough money to be happy.” This puts enough money, and happy into your brain and helps to foster thoughts that will help to manifest this situation in your daily life. The subconscious is a powerful tool!
My personal affirmation of late is “I love my life, I love my job, I am happy, healthy, and wealthy.”
I like to repeat the affirmation 9 times in the morning because 9 is a number of manifestation.
Whenever I go somewhere I like to be conscious of my breath and turn my walks into a meditation. This is a simple technique I use even when walking just down the hallway in my house. Inhale for 5 steps, hold breath for 5 steps, exhale for 5 steps, hold breath for 5 steps, repeat. If 5 steps is too much for you to begin with start with 2, or 3, or 4, whatever you can handle and work your way up. When I get really going on long walks I can even stretch it to 10 or 15 some days. This is a great exercise for your lungs and your mind. Try to just focus on your breathing, you don’t need to add in any visualization to this one, however you can if you feel so compelled.
This is a technique I use to help with my lucid dreaming practice, the more you do it and the more often you do it, the more success you will have with lucid dreaming. In dreams the world around you is different, solid objects are not solid. So an easy way to reality check is by taking your index and middle finger of one hand and pushing against the inside palm of your other hand, if your fingers have resistance you are awake, if they go through you are dreaming. You can also push your hand on solid objects such as walls, tables, furniture, doors etc. The more you consciously employ this in your waking life the more you will subconsciously do this in your dreaming life. One day you will go to push your fingers through your hand and they will go through, and bam! you are now in control of your dream! I personally reality check at least 5 times a day.
These are just a few of the things I add into my daily life to help keep me more mindful, and to keep the darkness at bay. Hopefully one of these techniques will resonate with you. It really is that simple to begin your path to supernatural living, one small thing at a time.
