Bael - A quick look at the spirit
The daemon Bael appears in the following grimoires:
Book of Incantations, The Discoverie of Witchcraft, The Magical Calendar, The Book of Spirits, The Book of the Office of Spirits, The Grand Grimoire, The Book of Oberon, Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, The Lesser Key of Solomon, Paradise Lost, and Dictionnaire Infernal.
Bael, also sometimes referred to as Ba'al, or Bail is a daemon of particular interest as he is ranked as a king in most of the grimoires he is present in. The following is from the Lesser key of Solomon:
The first Principal Spirit is a King ruling in the East, called Bael. He maketh thee to go Invisible. He ruleth over 66 Legions of Infernal Spirits. He appeareth in divers shapes, sometimes like a Cat, sometimes like a Toad, and sometimes like a Man, and sometimes all these forms at once. He speaketh hoarsely. This is his character which is used to be worn as a Lamen before him who calleth him forth, or else he will not do thee homage.
Now here we see that Bael is of course a King of the east which would put him in the office and throne of the element of air if we are to be using western correspondences as reference. This gives him many skills and powers, for one he can man the eastern watchtower and the eastern gate of air. He can help one gain knowledge of the element of air and introduce one to the other elemental kings and the elemental spirits of the east such as the Sylphs and the Zephyrs, which is a great aid in magik. This also means he can teach you to harness the power of the elemental air for your magik. Air's physical characteristics are hot, wet, light, and quick, so feel for these qualities when working with this element, and when conjuring this great king. Air is associated with clarity and renewal. Air thus stands for new beginnings and clear vision about which path to take. Air is also an element of constant activity and is seen as invigorating. The element Air also relates to the realm of mental activity and is associated with the colours white, and Yellow. The Element of Air rules the breath, the voice, speech, eloquence, information, communication, networking, and intellect. While this is not an exhaustive list of the element of air, that would take an entire book in its own right, it does give you ideas for areas that King Bael can help you with your magik.
His main power here is to make thee go invisible, while this may seem impossible and unattainable, I assure you this power is real and does work, just not in the modern sense. I have employed Bael hundreds of times over my career and when I have asked him about this power of his he said that this is not a physical invisibility, this is a power to hide you from your enemies, and to make the spirits sent against you powerless to find you, it may also be employed to help you slip past others unnoticed. This is a worthy tool and skill should one find themselves in hot water with other practitioners. I have also found this of particular use when I don't want to be noticed at an event or I need to remain unseen by others when performing an operation in public, or acquiring materia such as graveyard dirt, police station dirt, or hospital dirt. This is not however a good power to turn on when driving as it will make other drivers not notice you! be careful!
He is a ruler over 66 legions of spirits, which is quite impressive considering a roman legion contained 6000 soldiers, this leaves a number of spirits under his command that we as western occultists haven't even begun to scratch the surface of. I encourage you to ask him to introduce you to some of these spirits should you summon him, this will help you get a direct link to the spirits he employs to fulfill your bargains.
Bael is subservient to Lucifuge Rofocale and Oriens both great spirits in their own right. Oriens is the cardinal king of the east who rules over the entire watchtower and gateway of the realm of air. Lucifuge Rofocale is the great prime minister, granted the powers over all treasures and spirits of the underworld by Lucifer.
The easiest way to get ahold of Bael is to acquire his sigil on an altar tile, get a candle dedicated to him, or draw his sigil (pictured below) on fresh parchment.
Charge the sigil with energy by drawing it up from the underworld into your heart center then out your hands into the sigil, altar tile, or candle. With each breath bring up more energy and push it into the sigil, do this until you feel a tangible change in the air of the room you are in, next focus on the sigil, altar tile, or candle with all your intent and energy. If using the candle you can use the image of Bael on the front or the sigil on the back for this. For the altar tile or hand drawn sigil you are staring directly at the sigil. Allow your eyes to go slightly out of focus and everything else to melt out of your vision. As you do this chant Bael's enn from S Connolly's Complete book of demonolatry "Ayer Secore On Ca Ba'al" I recommend doing this a minimum of 108 times, or the length of a standard mala. If you don't have a mala do this until you feel the energy tangibly change around you and within you. I personally like to do this while still holding the sigil, altar tile, or candle and continuing to run the infernal energies into it, along with my intention firmly in my mind. Once you have done this either light the novena, or light a candle of your choice, I recommend Yellow, White, or Blue, and some incense befitting a king such as Frankincense.
Once you have done the above you can then simply offer gratitude and praise to the great king for his presence and ask him if he has any messages for you, and to convey them in a way that you can understand, or you may present a petition in exchange for an offering. The choice is yours. Either way give a license to depart asking him to harm none on his way. The below two will suffice:
"Great King Bael, guardian and keeper of the eastern gate, I thank you for your presence and blessing, please accept my humble offerings of incense and flame, may this uplift you and fulfill you, may this offering take whatever form you desire and please you."
If giving a petition do so now and end with "In exchange for this I will give you offering and praise worthy of your Kingship, let your price be known in a way I can easily and readily understand."
and then close the ritual with "I thank you great King Bael for gracing me with your presence, I am honored by your blessings, may my offerings please you and uplift you, I bid you to go if you must, and stay if you like, but do so in peace and bring harm to none. Hail and Farewell!"
You may not feel anything at all, or notice anything, and at other times his energy may blow you off your feet. Either way complete the operation as if it has worked, because it has. You can modify this for daily offerings to Bael if you wish to culminate a relationship with him. I highly recommend connecting to his energy and giving him offerings and cultivating a relationship with him for some time before you begin asking favors and blessings. Just as you likely wouldn't give up your time for someone you just met, he isn't likely to either. You would be much more inclined to help someone you've known for a few months and who has treated you well. To help cultivate this energy and to help build a relationship with this spirit, consider getting an attunement to his energies, this will help you notice him easier, and help to grow your connection to his powers and abilities.
I hope this finds you well, and helps you to ignite the light within!
